Calamity: wasps have stolen all our honey.
I've seen several wasps' nests this year and have made a point of congratulating them on the design, construction and siting and now I wish I'd penned a condemnatory article in Wasp World in the hope of encouraging mass emmigration! There's been plenty of usual wasp fare around, ripe plums and stuff_how dare they? I've tried hard to like them ever since one stung the sole of my foot by hiding in my wellington when I was seven. Ggrrrrrrr.

I had the same problem and was incensed when I saw wasps stealing easily what the bees had worked for. Five minutes with a plastic bottle and a knife saw it 're-cycled' into a wasp trap. A bit of watery jam and hoopla, a treat more tempting to honey - to a wasp at least. I have a jar spare if you want it. Simon
Thanks! but a spare jar of what?_watery jam?_I guess I could manufacture some!
Trouble is I didn't se it happening. They'd been and gone and done it before I knew.
Is Poland still where it was?
I meant a spare jar of honey, not a spare jar of wasps (which are now on the compost). I didn't notice either and lost a couple of frames before I managed to stop them.
Poland is indeed still where it was, and full or autumnal colour!
That is hugely generous. Let's hope you can bring it with you if ever you have time to visit.
